[dev] Another horde success story

Dear Horde:

Thanks for this excellent IMAP Web mail client.

I've been wanting to try this puppy out of a couple years now and
finally found time to get it set up try it out.

Didn't even take long to set up. About six hours total on Red Hat 7.3,
including my first real use of Postgres and setting it up not only for
my own use but for use by a small business for whom I provide mail
service.

Configured to work from an Apache secure Web server, this is the way
to go. I almost already prefer it to my Netscape IMAP client.

Only minor bugs I ran into were the trivial bugs of the initial
postgres database creation script not working and the Red Hat 7.3 PHP
file upload config problem.

I had to run the database creation commands directly from a
bash prompt as user postgres:
  CREATE DATABASE horde;
  CREATE USER horde;

I had to modify /etc/php.ini to say:
  file_uploads = On

Otherwise, the core installation just whipped by and I only had to
spend some time getting familiar with prefs and various options.

The UI is obviously designed by someone who knows what they are doing.

Very very nice.

Next stop (one of these days): integrating with LDAP serverized address
books. I'll keep my fingers crossed that LDAP server configuration is
less arcane than it was when I last attempted it -- perhaps the Turba
thing I saw at the Horde site will help out with that.

Cheers,
Dennis
