Hello,

Sorry for the crosspost, I am not sure where I should start to ask this
question. Below is my situation. For your info I am new to Linux as I have
been an NT programmer for the past 5 years and due to an upgrade in our
servers I am having my role changed to that of a php programmer instead of
asp. Here goes...

I am integrating our Horde-IMP email server into our intranet. One of
my tasks is to talk with the AS400 database where our users
information is stored with the email user who is logged on at the
time. Essentially the IMP email program is to be our launch pad for
other intranet services to our employees. I have to migrate the
current system from an NT-Exchange, ASP based system to the Linux-IMP,
PHP system they want to roll out.

I want to set up an addition to the menu on the side that lets me link
to a different html page passing in a variable containing the email
address and username of the current logged on person. I then apply
this email address and user name in my query to allow the logged in
person to do tasks associated with the AS400.

Do I have to use LDAP to do this or is there a way to pass information
from the login screen to the menu on the left side?

I am using the Default setup right now.
