Sounds like a viable solution. But it would probably be enough to just check
for .dist files in the config directories. At least if you move the page
templates in your applications to the appropriate places. ;-)

Yes, of course. The best would be to have a script that can handle both
methods (similar to backend.php and cli-backend.php in jonah, klutz and
luxor) and to still allow to configure the modules manually like today.
