I don't know your specific setup, but I would guess that MySQL is not found
where you have setup Horde to look for it. When Apache/PHP tries to connect to
the database it gets a null connection handle. When this is used, Apache
segfaults. While I have not seen this happen with PHP, I have seen exactly
this behavior in other applications.
Do other aspects of the Horde work? Can you verify connectivity to the DB?
Of course, I could be completely offbase. :o)
