We have a bunch of files in Nic like this that could really use cleanup to use
Net_Socket, and perhaps even create a few classes of our own in Nic to wrap up
that functionality.

It'd be even neater to wrap up a bunch of Nic's functionality so that we could
put it all into Horde_Blocks.
