I'm not sure what color would work well; the white with border sounds okay.
Someone want to find/create them?

If you want to create screenshots of what it looks like with the arrows either
before, or aligned right, go for it. I'm happy with where they are now, though,
and I really don't want to toss them into a different table cell for the reason
I mentioned earlier about the highlighting.
