[dev] Is php-mail-mime needed?

Hello

I'm preparing a horde3 package for debian and I have a question.
Is really PHP Mail mime needed? It is documented as such in the
install documentation but I have not had any problem to configure
or use without it.

I have set it to be a recommended package, but it may just be
suggested, or?
