Reading the licensing docs, it is clear that the framework is licensed
under the LGPL. My understanding is that modules may be licensed
differently, ranging from GPL (e.g. IMP) to Apache-like (e.g. Turba).
Is there a standing philosophy regarding licensing? If so, please send
feedback and I will draft a document for the development Wiki.
Specifically looking at AJAX providers and libraries, I assume that
inclusion of any library to the Horde framework must not be any more
restrictive than the LGPL. Are there any additional requirements, such
as size or activity of the project community that should be used as
criteria in evaluating other open source libraries for inclusion? Matt
Warden proposed the broken-notebook spell check AJAX module which has a
BSD license (see
http://lists.horde.org/archives/dev/Week-of-Mon-20050606/018072.html) .
It seems like with Chuck's recommended functional enhancements, this
would be acceptable in license terms and project stability. Any thoughts?
Nik
