Agreed.

And in the interest of actually adding something to this thread... a 
few additional comments.  I definitely am of the belief that the 
technology tends to be overused - sort of a "let's use ajax everywhere 
because it is cool" instead of "where would ajax improve the 
look/feel/UI experience of the particular application/page".  That's 
why I personally think some sort of slow rollout of ajax features would 
be useful, but trying to convert horde into a full ajax app doesn't 
make sense.

that being said, i think a goal for Horde 3.1 (or 3.2) could be to 
implement ajax in the menubar - this is a location where ajax 
functionality would be useful, faster, and clean.  For imp I could see 
ajax being useful to automatically update message lists and the folder 
listing.
