[dev] Sidebar message counts not updating

After my first cvs update in a while, I've discovered that the portal  
blocks are now refreshing, but the message counts in the sidebar are  
not.

I'm brand new to firebug, but it appears to be showing that the new  
message counts are being received from the server (though I haven't  
closely examined the complete response, I can see that the counts are  
updated), but the new values are never being displayed (a problem in  
the call to "eval", maybe?). There are no errors displayed in the  
javascript console, and the warnings I get don't seem to apply.

I'm seeing this in Firefox 1.5.0.7 under Linux, Firefox 2.0.0.1 and  
Internet Explorer 6 under Windows.

Can anyone offer advice on what I can look at from here to find the problem?
