[dev] Caching seems to brake jonah api

 It seems like whith caching set to xcache fetching stories from Jonah 
is broken after most recent CVS update.  I get a 500 error with no log 
entries except for:

2007-03-10 08:43:14: (mod_fastcgi.c.2396) unexpected end-of-file 
(perhaps the fastcgi process died): pid: 25878 socket: 
unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi.socket-0
2007-03-10 08:43:14: (mod_fastcgi.c.3181) response not received, request 
sent: 997 on socket: unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi.socket-0 for /news/index.php 
, closing connection

setting caching to the file based driver resolves the errors.  I have 
not tested any other cahce backends other than xcache...
