Alright, I kinda give up on this.  Even if we know the object type, by  
returning all children together we lose the ability to cleanly use  
forums/numMessagesBatch, we'd have to resort to calling  
forums/numMessages for each image.  So, I guess the only question I  
have left on this is how much of performance hit would this be you  
think?  I think I'm gonna go ahead and refactor to use something like  
a Ansel_Tile_* view that will return the html for the image/gallery  
'tiles' and see how much of a hit it is to do the image counts  
one-by-one.
