Ah.  In that case, I came across the phpThumb project  
(phpthumb.sourceforge.net) a while ago, while I was trying to mess  
with some image processing stuff...While not something to 'drop-in', I  
think there were some at least some gd algorithms in there for rounded  
corners, drop shadow etc...that we could use as a starting point for  
the gd driver.
