Where did you run into problems with this?  I haven't seen any issues  
with any use case I have tested.  Regardless, appInit() is not the  
proper solution.  It is meant to be a bootstrap shortcut - something  
that can be used to initialize an imp script - but  
IMP_Auth::authenticate() can be called from any Horde app.
