At this point, is there any reason we shouldn't be using 1.7(rc)  
anyway?  At some point, we are going to have to fix broken code in the  
future.  (purge() will be useful in DIMP).

I already have a local branch containing fixes for the 1 place in IMP  
where 1.7 broke things (search selector changes).
