I already had this commit reverted, but then I read the tickets again.  
The problem is that the pam_auth extension is very broken and not  
maintained either. Debian is the only place where it's available at all.
It was decided that it should be dropped for Horde 4. There is still  
the pam pecl extension that can be used as a replacement.
