I understand the reasoning behind this and I was even about to release  
a new version. But then it occurred to me that removing a driver is  
really something that has to wait for the next major version, simply  
because 3rd party developers could be using this driver, even if it  
doesn't make sense.
If you don't want to maintain these drivers any further, I suggest to  
instead have them wrapping the socket drivers and add a deprecation  
notice that they are going to removed completely in version 2.0.0.
