None of these files exist anymore, for one.  If these files moved...  
the assumption has to be that this still isn't needed or the original  
committer would have updated this at the time the files have moved.

FWIW, I stopped depending on gitattributes to preserve line endings  
(at least in test files).  It is much clearer/cleaner to do something  
like base64 encoding the data.
