[hermes] new hermes install, 2 fatal errors

Thank you for the reply, Jason -- but I think I'm missing part of your 
message.
I see you saying, "Which definitely solves 2)" -- but I don't see what solves
2. Sorry for the confusion, would love to try any suggestions.
