Ok, so it works (as you may have guessed) if i take out the MySQL support.. it appears that i can't connect with the mysql i downloaded, but the one that came with redhat uses /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock not sure if that makes a difference, or what.. unfortunately for now i'll just have to leave DB support out until i can figure out some sort of resolution. doug.
