Sendmail setup

I know that the issue of sendmail does not belong here but i am still 
posting this question here assuming many of you must have gone through the 
setup of sendmail.

What is the guideline to setup Sendmail? I have tried the Sendmail 
Installation and Operation Guide (SIOG) but that is too much detail to 
swallow in one go. I have tried the linux/unix reference guides but they 
left me in the middle after just discussing a few bacis things. What I am 
looking for is some kind of explicit setup details. Or atleast something 
that can help me to set it up and have it running.
