Check preferences input.

Hi,
I need some tips to check the preferences input. For example check a
password with the cracklib, or check for an existing domain or email. Or
, more simple, check if the input is a number or check for a format.
Where I can associate my check functions with the preference structure?
Thanks
Cristian.

The submitted preferences are processed in the applications' prefs.php
files (NOT config/prefs.php). An exception are the preferences of the
type 'special'. These are each processed in their own files, for example
identities.php or filters.php in IMP.
