[Horde] What thing happened when I config $this->registry['auth']['login'] in the horde/config/registry.php ?

Dear All:
I'm very interested about how this value of
$this->registry['auth']['login'] in horde/config/registry.php affects
the authenticating functions in the horde 2.0?
I couldn't see any code refers to this value when it do the
authenticating functions!
What things do I miss?

grep for 'auth/login' instead. 
Btw. these entries are dropped in the current HEAD branch.
