[horde] page cannot be displayed

Dear List:

Slowly progressing through a BSD 4.6 horde/imp install
using mysql & imap-UW

here is my latest error:
bottom of horde/index.php displays - 'page' directly above |horde mail
Logout| icon does not display.

ideas of where to look?
