[horde] turba session hangs trying to export >1500 address book entries

trying to either browse my address book or export my address book, horde session
hangs up when address book entries exceed around 1500. (fine with 1000 entries)

search of address book work fine.

as best as i can tell, control is not getting to browse.php on selecting
"Browse" or data.php on selecting "Export".

does anyone have any experience of this or ideas as to what the problem may be
or a suggested debug process?

Apache 2.0.40-8
PHP Version: 4.2.2
Postgresql 7.2.2-1 turba backend
Browser -  Konqueror 3.0.4-1 using kde 3.0.4-1 redhat, mozilla 1.0.1 or
Browser - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020830,
