I didn't either, so I went to www.horde.og and clicked around a bit, especially
the CVS part. It tells you what to do, so that even I understood it. Mind you, I
ended up by finding and compiling new Linux cvs utilities, just as CPAN for perl
stuff should be up to date. Didn't regret it.

It will overwrite all files except the files which you will or have rename(d) to
their basename without a .dist ending. These are always files in the config
directories.
So that your new downloaded conf.php.dist will not overwrite your conf.php, but
you can do that by hand, if you wish. Or compare the two and see if there's any
difference.
It also includes updates to SQL and LDAP configuration files, though. Although
these will not alter your databases/directory tree, you would do well to compare
your tables and indexes / LDAP schema files with what the Horde people have
found will be necessary from now on.
The CVS way is definitely the way to go. Make a copy of your present tree, so
that you can go back to it if you want to.
Best,
Tony
