[horde] Composer and attachment problem

I am having a problem where when trying to sendemail via horde all it does
when clicking send is take me back to the composer page with all the fields
cleaned out.  When attaching a file it also does not work.  i checked and
/usr/lib/sendmail exists as well as /usr/sbin/sendmail (horde is configured
to use /usr/lib/sendmail).  Anybody know what the problem could be?
