[horde] Trying horde from CVS

I have a working horde installation (the latest rpm from the horde web
site, including php 4.2.2). I'm trying to set up the latest CVS stuff,
but when I try to run

php -q install-packages.php

from the framework, all I get is a lot of 

Installing Group:
<br />
<b>Fatal error</b>:  Call to undefined function:  getoptions() in <b>/usr/bin/pear</b> on line <b>34</b><br />

Is this fixable or do I have to update PHP and friends? The docs just
say 4.2.1 or better.
