My guess is configuration, at least that is what the error message 
would lead me
to believe.  What does your slapd.log file say?  It should be a bit more
specific.  With that and your ldap prefs setup from horde/config/conf.php, you
should be able to figure it out easily.  If not you might want to send 
both the
error and the configuration to the list.
