[horde] imap_bind() but not imap_errors()

Hi,

I have installed horde and imp, 3 alpha and version 4 alpha.

I'm getting an error from imp which is;

Unable to call imap_errors() - function does not exist in

and a pear error "Auth_imp: Required IMAP extension not found."

but imap shows up in the phpinfo() function, and ldap_bind is availble. 
what am
I missing that should include the imap_errors() function?
