[horde] Notes and questions on horde 3.0 and its applications

Hi,

I found some spare time to start testing the new horde release :-)

First of all: Its great, looks nice, easy to understand for the user.

Short info: ATM we use Horde/IMP/Turba (stable) for Webmail access
mainly to our 'central' mailserver but also provide it as frontend for
some other servers located on the campus (University of Constance)
Works great but based on the server we rewrite the username.
We want the users to login with the local part of their mail address but
to connect to the imapserver they need ther username. We hacked this
into lib/IMAP.php (imp3) and some other places where the username was
needed.
As far as I was able to figure out, this is only neccessary on one place
in imp4, great. (setting this->_user to something differend in
function IMP_IMAP in imp/lib/IMAP.php)
First I tried to use the hook system, but it seems that will only work
if you do authentication by horde not by imp. Would be great if imp
would also provide these from/to backend hooks.

Now the questions:

How do I lock the Identities and set them to values from ldap.
There seem to be hooks like '_prefs_hook_from_addr' from where are they
called? What variables do they have access to?

I will ask more if I dig deeper into the other applications :-)
