[horde] Setting up authentication

Hi,
I just installed horde & imp to be able to read email through the webinterface.
At the moment I have imp doing the authentication, but that way i can't change
a lot as user.
I would like to have horde do authentication, but when i make the changes in
registry.php, i cannot login anymore. I have added a user account in the
horde_users with the an MD5 encrypted password (cat password | md5dum), but it
isn't recognised....
The system is a fedorea box with postgres and the stable releases for imp,
kronolith, horde and turba

any ideas howto go on from here (in the end i also want to use rakim, but that
is giving me just errors when i use the CVS/HEAD versions at the moment....)
