I'm not certain it's your IMAP server, maybe a compression or network
problem? However if you just want to improve the IMAP server perfmance
you should try the Dovecot IMAP server (www.dovecot.org). I installed it
and its much much faster than courier-imap as it keeps an index file of
message headers etc. Works with Maildir.
