[horde] Horde install problem with pear-Log

Vitals 
RH ES 3.0 
Apache 2.4.46 
Perl 4.3.2-11.1 
New clean install on all. 
I tried to install Log to my setup. (pear install log) I received an error
about sqlite extensions not installed. 
I spent 90 minutes hunting this down and trying various patch's and rpms and
tars around PHP and sqlite, but I now feel very dumb.
I searched a few weeks of the horde lists with no luck. What have I missed.
