I have noticed that when new versions of HEAD modules come out, that the
version.php doesn't seem to change.  Is this because this is not a
production release?

When HEAD goes into production, is that where module version information
is going to be kept?

What about when the database for a module is changed?  Is that tracked
somewhere?

I think conf files are tracked in the conf.xml file for each module.  Is
that true?
