Found my mistake.

When making copies of the config files (*.php.dist) i use to move all 
the .dist files into a own directory for better overview. I did not 
notice there was an conf.xml too so i just did a 'mv * .dist' and then 
copied only the *.dist files back to the config dir.

(May be this should be mentioned in the INSTALL file?)
