[horde] UW-IMAP question

I am fighting the install of UW-IMAP. I keeps crashing on install.
Does anyone have a good howto for configuring the Make?
I'm using 'make slx', and am getting openenv and OSTYPE errors.
Also, 
If I install QMAIL or POSTFIX will I get the c-client.a lib? ( I'm now
looking for alternatives to UW-IMAP)

This is the last piece of my HORDE install puzzle.
