[horde] MySQL Database Back-end initial configuration

I am on my first trial run using Horde.  I have configured the
authentication via IMAP and then moved on to setting the preferences and
other database related settings.

I have specified that the Data_Tree should use the MySQL back-end but no
matter which page try to view I get the following error message;

A fatal error has occurred
DB Error: extension not found

[line 378 of /var/www/horde/lib/Horde/Prefs/sql.php]

Any ideas?
