[horde] help with VFS?

Using Horde 3.0.9, and Gollem 1.0.2-RC1, I've been putting together an
SSH2-based VFS driver; our institution has turned off all ftp access,
and the smb driver copied from Horde 3.1-cvs doesn't seem to be as
complete as the ftp driver.

Anyway...

I've loaded the PECL SSH2 module, I see successful logins in my mail
server's logfile (e.g.:
"Feb 3 12:30:55 <hostname> sshd[23722]: Accepted password for green from \
<aaa.bbb.cc.ddd> port 34413 ssh2")

However, I'm also getting these errors reported in Gollem (that's the
initial Horde module I wanted it for):

'Cannot create home directory: Unable to create VFS directory "".'
and
'Error Permission denied to folder "/": Unable to change to /.'

Would anyone with a clearer understanding of the VFS system care to
give some advice on where I've gone wrong?
