[horde] Bare carriage returns or line feeds in mail

I am starting to see error messages from MTA's
with the following message

550 Bare carriage returns or line feeds not permitted (in reply to end 
of DATA command

I understand what the message is saying - but I am having no luck in 
tracking down a resolution.

Running horde 3.0.9
imp 4.0.4
postfix-2.1.5-4.2
httpd-2.0.52-22
php-4.3.11

Any ideas ?
