[horde] MySQL Compression?

Hello,

We have a fairly complicated Horde installation with 5 servers  
distributed across a WAN. Our bottleneck is access to the central  
MySQL server for preferences and personal address books. MySQL  
supports compression between client and server, but Horde does not  
appear to use it. Is there a reason why this is not a configurable  
option, and would a patch be accepted?
