Al,

When I did just that over the weekend I got the dreaded "you must configure
a DataTree back end" message.  As best as I can tell you at least need the
authorization section in the conf.php to allow the administrator to make the
admin setup changes.

The other way I have fixed this problem is to wipe out../../horde/*.* and
recopy the files from my tarball directory.  It works pretty good this way,
ask me how I know.

Sure. Replace horde/config/conf.php with the conf.php.dist file.
