[horde] SessionHandler::gc() and expiration

Hello all!

I'm trying to figure out how to expire the sessions in my MySQL 
horde.horde_sessionhandler table. I've discovered that there's a method 
implemented.
My question: When is it used ? How can I expire the unused 1500+ rows in 
the table?
