[horde] utf8: horde config and mysql Table Collation

Hi all

I need some advise with mysql collation in connection with horde 3.2-RC2
I installed the Webmailedition (rc1) like suggested over 
./scripts/setup.php : worked fine :-)

and updated to rc2 few days ago. (cp)

At the moment all tables in MYSQL are utf8_general_ci.
In Horde prefs-->horde-->database--> $conf[sql][charset]: utf-8
The webserver ( apache 2.2.3) is delivering  the right  headers --> 
Content-Type: text/html;charset=utf-8

Where do i need tweak the config to get things like "umlaute --> äöü" right?
