[horde] mailer dsn authentication smtp

We leave the username password fields blank so that the smtp authentication will use the logged in user. 

However, with this blank the Read Receipt responses fail. I have noticed that if we populate the mail with a user. The Read Receipt will work fine, but now all smtp is authenticated with that one user. 

Is there a way to use per user smtp authentication and have the read receipt response work?
