Works for me, just tested in the calendar.

You might want to check if you are entering information in the correct
calendar/address book on the iPhone. That was the error I first made, as
the iOS calendar/contacts app support multiple address books and do so
transparently.

And on top of that, I think deleting contacts is not replicated, but
that might be by design. Adding new ones or modifying existing ones
works as expected, at least in my installation.
