Hi Simon, was able to install it by first doing this:

apt-get install php5-ldap

I think I forgot that one, however I have another issue now which is when I go to Administration/Users it says:

Adding users is disabled.

Your authentication backend does not support adding users. If you wish to use Horde to administer user accounts, you must use a different authentication backend.

Listing users is disabled.

Your authentication backend does not support listing users, or the feature has been disabled for some other reason.

Not sure what is this authentication backend

If I recall correctly, -B will download but not build the pear dependency.

Try with pear install -a -c horde/Horde_Ldap
