[horde] Folder Download Issues..due to size most likely

I have been trying to assist a friend who uses Horde webmail for his business, but also uses it for personal use as well, and as a result over the past few years resulted in 20,000+emails in his inbox that he has not maintained.
I have worked with him to organize around 14,000 emails in different folders, in an attempt to archive anything old and move it off the webmail server to save space on the 2GB he was using up.
The issue I am having is when go to the Inbox, then selecting the "Folder" option from the top toolbar, using the "Download" in the "Choose Action" box and trying to download a folder over a certain size is not working.
I have no issues downloading/saving small or empty folders, it works perfectly, but some of the larger files I seem to be having an issue with, for example:
Some of the folder sizes I attempted to download that did not work were 132MB, 434MB, & 580MB.
What happens is, I get as far as putting a check box next to the desired folder I wish to download, choose "Download".
I then receive the "All messages in the following folder(s) will be downloaded into one MBOX file: Customer Emails-2008 This may take some time. Are you sure you want to continue?" message, which I click "OK" to.
This is when it sits on the page with message "Waiting for webmail.emailname.com..." in the status bar, and then after 60 seconds or longer sometimes, comes back to a blank white page in the middle of the screen, and ONLY the navigation displaying in the left pane. I need to click on an item on the left in order to display something in the main body of the page again.
I have used Browsers IE-8 version 8.0.6001, and Firefox 11.0 on Win XP Professional, Version 2002 SP3.
I have also tried this on Safari on MAC OS, but do not have the Safari or MAC OS version offhand, it was a new macbook purchased last year...
Obviously the issue is related to folder size, I just have no idea if it is related to the Horde Webmail software, or the server that it is being hosted on because I am still waiting to hear back from the server owner seeking his assistance as well. I have his phone number but my schedule has not allowed me to contact him yet. The only technical details I know about the server so far is that it is a Linux based server running the MAILDIR version of Horde, :( thats about it so far.
Has anyone else had issues like this?
Thanks for the help,
Bob
