[horde] upgrading applications

I tried to upgrade to 5.1beta using the instructions in docs/UPGRADING but I
am getting nowhere. 

I ran: 

 pear upgrade -a -B -c horde 

A bunch of stuff happened, I checked the web app, still 5.0.4 

I restarted apache, still 5.0.4 

I re-ran the command 
 pear upgrade -a -B -c horde 

says nothing to upgrade in channel "horde" 

Do I somehow have to switch channels to beta or something?  How?
