I know it's possible to disable the SSL requirement, at least on early  
Exchange versions as I've reveresed engineered quite a number of  
things from listening in ;). If this is a production system, obviously  
I understand why you wouldn't do this. I think I can get access to an  
Exchange 2010 VM from a friend to look at this, but not sure when.
